Flowers. Chocolates. And a card, of course.
All very nice, if 'safe', ways to wish your mum a Happy Mother's Day.
But when she says that what she'd like more than anything is to spend quality time with her loved ones, believe her!
Well, playing a few games of tenpin is certainly quality - and FUN - time. It's a chance to laugh, get competitive, be supportive - and above all, have a great time with that special lady in your life.
And there's no better place to do it than at a Tenpin bowling centre.
Here's why...
MAKING MEMORIES
Let's face it, one Mother's Day can often be like another.
But when you go tenpin bowling, it's the sort of family occasion she'll relish.
And you can bet that in years to come, it'll be the one she remembers because of those strikes she managed, or when her ball kept trundling along the gutter, or when 'mum's team' beat 'dad's team' by one point...you get the picture.
SPENDING TIME WITH EACH OTHER
In our busy lives, it's easy to neglect the importance of spending time with loved ones.
Mums can feel it keenly - time's slipping away, the kids she invested so much in are growing up so fast and some are even flying, or have flown, the nest.
Time together is precious - so when you ARE together, there's nowhere better than a Tenpin centre because, quite simply, there's so much fun to be had.
Bowling is renowned as an excellent way to spend time as a family - and by doing it on Mother's Day, you're showing her how much you value precious time spent with each other.
WATCH MUM'S SKILLS
Whisper it quietly but mum may be a bit of a demon bowler.
For decades, a night tenpin bowling has been seen as a perfect "date night".
In the 1950s, 60s and 70s in particular, the tenpin bowling boom saw young people worldwide go crazy for the tenpin experience.
Back in the day, there's a good chance your mum may have been honing her bowling skills while being wooed by the love of her life!
So when you're totting up your scores at the end of your sessions, don't be surprised if mum wipes the floor with you.
IT'S THE THOUGHT THAT COUNTS
Quite simply, taking mum to Tenpin on Mother's Day shows you've put some thought into it.
You've chosen something she's almost certain to enjoy - and she's doing it with the people she loves most.
She's been there for you all the way, cheering you on - sometimes literally - as you make your way through life. So the fact you've chosen a fun gift that you can all enjoy will mean the world to her.
Oh, and you can still have the flowers and chocolates ready for her when you get home! And don't forget to take some photos - they'll be treasured mementoes further down the line.
IT'S NOT JUST BOWLING
Fantastic bowling facilities are the jewel in Tenpin's crown. And with approximately 1000 lanes at our centres across the UK, it's fair to say we do it pretty well!
But if mum's up for it, there's so much more to do at many of our centres.
Whether she sings like an angel or has an adventurous side, it doesn't have to be all about the bowling.
Let's take a look at some of our other attractions:
Sector 7 laser tag
Competitive and addictive, use infrared light guns to target your friends and family - including mum!
An amazing 4D experience for all the family, it's time to don your special vests, grab your laser guns, get in the special arena and see who's the laser hotshot in your group. Play at 17 of our centres.
Karaoke
Does your mum love to belt out a classic tune? Well there's nowhere better to do it than in one of our soundproofed karaoke rooms. Available at 15 Tenpin centres, you can sing along to your heart's content, without any embarrassment. And with thousands of songs to choose from, there's bound to be some of mum's favourites on the playlist.
If you're struggling for inspiration, though, how about taking the 'mother' theme literally, with such tunes as 'Mama Told me Not To Come', 'Mama Weer All Crazee Now', 'Mama' by The Spice Girls or even a couple of Abba classics - 'Does Your Mother Know?' and 'Mamma Mia'!
Houdini's Escape Rooms
Mums are good at solving problems - let's face it, they've done it for us all our lives!
But at 12 Tenpin centres, your family group can spend an exhilarating hour trying to crack codes and break free from a locked room.
Mum's logical approach could well come in handy as you're faced with an array of baffling clues - well, baffling until you put your mind to it.
Work together as a family to crack codes and solve hidden puzzles in order to win your freedom.
It's challenging and fun - another ideal option to make it a Mother's Day to remember.
Food and drink
OK, so our range of burgers, pizzas and other dishes may not be quite a match for one of mum's extra special roast dinners, but it's tasty stuff - and she hasn't had to lift a finger!
Menus vary from centre to centre, but we pride ourselves on our range of burgers and dogs, fresh, hand-crafted pizzas, sharing platters and a variety of refreshing drinks, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic.
Rest assured you'll find something you like, all very reasonably priced - and no-one has to do the washing up or fill the dishwasher!
